Manager, US Financial Planning Overview:
The Financial Planning team delivers 1-on-1 advice that helps employees make confident financial decisions across core planning topics and workplace benefits.
We’re hiring a Manager, US Financial Planning to lead and develop a team of CFP® professionals, strengthen and scale our service model while ensuring a consistently high-quality, compliant planning experience for our members. You’ll partner closely with Planning Leadership and cross-functional teams (Product, Operations, Client Success) to turn what we learn from clients into improvements in how we deliver advice, and how our platform and team supports it.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and coach a team of remote CFP® professionals to deliver a consistently excellent 1-on-1 planning experience via text based chat & video calls
- Build a high-performing team culture through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development
- Evolve and operationalize a scalable service model. Identify areas we can scale coverage, workflows, scheduling, and day to day work that balances quality, compliance, and capacity
- Conduct quality assurance for the team: QA reviews, adherence to planning standards, documentation quality, and SEC compliance requirements
- Use data and feedback to improve outcomes, tracking and action on metrics like client satisfaction, engagement, utilization, and planner capacity
- Partner cross-functionally to improve the end-to-end client experience and tooling. Bringing insight to product improvement and elevating team requests to impact current product roadmap planning and company goals
- Own and evolve our client-facing content and presentation strategy. Developing and refining planning materials, tailoring them to different audiences/employers and client needs. Regularly deliver live presentations (e.g. webinars, workshops, employer sessions) and assign to members of the planning team in partnership with client success
- Surface and solve recurring client or planner friction points; escalate issues early and drive to resolution via internal partnerships with internal teams (you are the key voice of on the ground planning)
- Continuously improve how we work as a team: creating new processes, templates, and training that makes the team better and current with the changing landscape of financial planning with current rules and regulations
- Navigate changes in an ever changing environment as we are a start-up and working to bring financial health and wellness to all of our members via 1-1 interaction, asynchronous communication, and AI integration
Who you are:
- You are a player and a coach, ready to dive in, lead any initiative, and get your hands dirty. You lead by example, inspire the team, and are committed to furthering your knowledge and taking the first step to lead your team
- Active CFP® certification (CPA/PFS, ChFC, CIC, or CFA are a plus or can be substituted based on experience in lieu of a current CFP® certification)
- This is a registered position S65 and must be eligible for IAR registration in your state of residence
- 5+ years in financial planning, advice, or a closely related financial services role
- 3+ years of people leadership experience (directly managing, coaching, and developing a team)
- Strong command of the financial planning process and common employee-benefit planning needs (retirement plans, equity/comp, insurance, taxes, budgeting/debt)
- A clear, empathetic communicator who can build trust with both clients and well qualified, experienced financial advisors
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment—structured enough to create process, flexible enough to iterate, and lead a team that is passionate about making a difference in the industry
- Strong judgment and attention to detail, especially around documentation, suitability, and compliance expectations
- Collaborative and cross-functional: in this role you will not only lead the frontline planning team, you will also work closely with internal (Customer Success, Product, Design, Engineering, and Sales) and external leaders (employer HR teams, benefits leaders, and key stakeholders with employer clients)
- Bonus: experience scaling a client service team in a high-growth environment
