About Secfi

Secfi is trusted by thousands of tech professionals for financial planning and financing. We're the first to provide a proprietary suite of equity planning tools, 1:1 guidance with licensed equity strategists, and a set of financing products that enable employees to own a stake in the company they helped build. Currently, we have over 50,000 users on our platform owning over $150bn worth of equity, and have worked with employees from more than 90% of all U.S. unicorns.

About the job

We're at an inflection point. We recently launched Maeve, our AI assistant specialized in what Secfi does best: equity planning and wealth strategy for startup employees. And we're evolving our portfolio value tracker, the tool our customers use to understand what their equity is worth; using pricing signals, market news, and AI-generated insights.

The product surface is expanding faster than one designer can hold, and we need a second senior IC who can own real scope from day one. This role is roughly 90% product, 10% brand and marketing design: you'll spend most of your time on the product, with occasional landing pages, campaign assets, or pitch material landing on your desk. A brand evolution may be on the horizon; we're looking for someone whose range extends that way when the time comes, without it being the main event.

You'll be the second designer on the team, joining a senior designer who works remotely and currently carries the function. That means peer collaboration without bureaucracy and meaningful ownership without being on an island.

You'll report to Robin, our Senior Director of Product & Technology. Robin spent several years as a design director and is an experienced designer, so you'll have a manager who speaks your language and trusts you to own your craft. Conversations about design happen in substance, not vague reactions, and you won't need to translate your decisions into executive-speak to be heard.

What you'll work on in your first year

  • Maeve. Shape how customers interact with our AI assistant: how it shows up in the product, when it speaks, how trust gets built into an interface where an LLM is advising on money. This is a product surface we're still defining.
  • Portfolio tracker evolution. We're layering in new data signals: real-time pricing, market news, and AI-generated insights. Your job is to design how customers make sense of an increasingly rich information stream without it becoming overwhelming. Information design meets financial UX.
  • Core product optimization. Continuous improvements to our educational platform, onboarding, advisory flows, and existing surfaces.

What you'll do day to day

  • Partner with PMs to come-up with ideas on how and where to improve the UX of our products
  • Own design end-to-end on assigned product areas: discovery, research, prototyping, visual, handoff, and follow-through after launch
  • Work directly with PMs and engineers in Amsterdam — co-located, in-person collaboration is a big part of why this role is hybrid
  • Contribute to and help evolve our design system as the product surface grows
  • Run usability sessions and customer interviews; you don't wait for a researcher
  • Push back on PMs and engineers when the design isn't right, and have the craft to back up your position
  • Jump into brand and marketing work when it's needed, and bring a real point of view to it

What we're looking for

You're a senior product designer first. You've shipped meaningful product work at companies where design quality matters: fintech, SaaS, consumer products with real complexity. You can show us the thinking behind the work, not just the screens. You can juggle with a few ongoing projects at various stages of development.

You're AI-forward. You use AI tools in your own workflow and ship faster because of them. You're the designer who tells the team about the tool they haven't tried yet, not the one waiting to be shown. You're equally excited about designing for AI products — Maeve and the tracker are where a lot of your output will land, and we want someone who treats this as the interesting frontier, not a distraction. If your take on AI in design is that it's a fad, this isn't the team for you.

You have brand and marketing design range. It's 10% of the role, but it's real. You can design a strong landing page or campaign visual without it looking like a product designer reluctantly took a brand brief.

Financial product experience is a strong plus. Designing for money — especially complex financial products like equity, investments, or wealth management — is its own discipline. If you've done it, say so. If you haven't, show us you can hold the complexity.

You think in systems. You design with the next ten screens in mind. You care about consistency without being precious. You can extend a design system, and you know when to break it.

You operate independently. You can run a project from kickoff to ship without needing detailed art direction. You're comfortable being one of two designers on the team.

You collaborate in person. This role is hybrid 2.5 days a week in our Amsterdam office because the rest of the product and engineering team is here. If you're looking for fully remote, this isn't the role.

You're fluent in English. Dutch is not required.

Why you'll love working here

  • Competitive total compensation
  • Comprehensive benefits
  • Hybrid setup: 2.5 days per week in our Amsterdam office
  • Lunch provided on office days
  • Yearly trip to our NYC office
  • A culture that values autonomy, craft, and people feeling recognized

How to apply

Send us your CV and a portfolio. The portfolio matters more than the CV. We want to see two or three projects in depth — your role, the constraints, the decisions you made and why, what shipped, and what you'd do differently. Case studies beat screenshots.
